The Health Department hired a full-time Youth Mental Health Social Worker to assist youth in Wauwatosa through partnerships with the Wauwatosa School District and private local schools. The social workers are focused on addressing the negative effects of the pandemic on youth mental health. The social workers conduct mental health assessments, assist with referrals to treatment and other mental health resources, and provide education to students, teachers, and families on a variety of mental health topics.

In Summer 2024 the Youth Mental Health Social Workers are offering Youth Group programming. These two free six-week groups meet on Wednesdays at the Wauwatosa City Hall. 

The two groups offered currently are: 

Arts and Crafts Group 

Children will learn how to explore their identitites, cope with social stressors, and boost self esteem through creative emotional expressions of arts and crafts. 
Pre-teen: Ages 11-13
Teen: Ages 14-15
