Internships 

The Wauwatosa Health Department offers a variety of internship opportunities. Any paid internship openings will be posted on the City of Wauwatosa's Job Opportunities page.

If you are interested in an internship for school credit, please fill out our Internship Interest Form and email it to thealth@wauwatosa.net. Internship opportunities include clinicals, field placement, or capstone projects in the areas of nursing, social work, environmental health, and public health. Interest forms must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance of your anticipated start date. Students will be selected based on available openings, interest areas, program requirements, alignment with current projects, and/or type of internship.

General Volunteer Opportunities

On occasion, the Wauwatosa Health Department seeks volunteers for events and programs we offer throughout the year. If you are interested in these opportunities, please fill out our volunteer interest form.

Emergency Assistance

In the event of a disaster or public health crisis in the community, we rely on volunteers to assist with emergency response.  Because emergency situations often occur without warning, we ask volunteers to register ahead of time.  You are then contacted if assistance is needed.  Any required training is done on-site at the time of the event.

You can register through the Wisconsin Emergency Assistance Volunteer Registry (WEAVR), an online registration system for volunteers willing to serve in an emergency.
