As an entitlement community, the City of Wauwatosa receives an annual allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development. The primary objective of the CDBG program is the development of viable urban communities through the provision of opportunities for housing, a safe living environment, and expanded economic opportunities to primarily low or moderate income persons.

CDBG Annual Application Process

The CDBG program funds local community development, such as projects that serve seniors, provide services for people with disabilities, and renovate public facilities.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 Program Year. Application deadline is Friday, Sept. 6.

Organizations must serve Wauwatosa residents.

For questions about the CDBG program, please contact (414) 471-8400 or kschreiber@wauwatosa.net for further information.

Annual Action Plan & Performance Evaluation Reports

The city completes an annual action plan that identifies community needs and funding priorities in addition to annual performance evaluation report that describes program outcomes and accomplishments. A long-range consolidated plan is completed every 5 years.

Citizen Participation Plan

The Department of Housing and Urban Development requires municipalities receiving CBDG funds develop and follow a detailed plan which provides for and encourages citizen participation, emphasizing participation by persons of low/moderate income, blighted areas, and areas in which the city proposes to expend CDBG funds.  For more detailed information, please review the 2024 Citizen Participation Plan.
