Construction in 2024

1) Discover Parkway sanitary sewer extension and Center Street storm and water utilities

Estimated timeline: (Discover Parkway) Early June to October 2024

Brief description: This project involves sanitary sewer relay and extension with permanent trench restoration. There will be traffic control throughout the project.

Estimated timeline (Center Street): Early June to mid August 2024

Brief description: On Center Street from 116th Street to 118th Place, we are installing new water main and services and large storm sewer. The road will be restored for the school year prior to 2025 street improvements.

2) Green Alleys

Estimated timeline: Mid-April to Mid-June 2024

Brief description: We are installing two green alleys. These are called green alleys because the pavement is permeable and helps with stormwater flow. We are also completing some minor intersection and pedestrian improvements at both locations.

3) Street and Utility Improvements 

Estimated timeline: June to September 2024

Brief description: On 115th Street, Colonial Drive, and Sarasota Place we are making various repairs to the street and utilities. Work on Colonial and Sarasota Place is a joint effort with the City of Milwaukee.

4) Potter Road and 109th Street Construction

Estimated timeline: March to November 2024

Brief description: Potter Road between 113th St. and Mayfair Rd. will be closed through November 2024. The City of Wauwatosa’s contractor will be replacing the pavement, upgrading the utilities including water main, storm sewer and sanitary sewer on Potter Road and 109th St., and replacing street lighting.

5) 2024 Pavement Repair

Estimated timeline: Mid-June through September

Brief description:

• We are repairing 13 concrete alleys within the City.
• We are also spot repairing pavement on Capitol Drive which also includes replacing sidewalk and reconstructing two curb ramps.
• We are reconstructing, raising, and repaving one lane of 72nd Street and a portion of the Hart Park Parking Lot (near the railroad tracks).

Please note that these projects have not been bid yet. 

6) Sidewalk Program

Estimated timeline: April through June 2024

Brief description: Sidewalk program on west side of Wauwatosa roughly bounded by HWY 100 & 124th with north and south limits at the City boundary

7) 2024 North Avenue Construction

Estimated timeline: May - June 2024

Brief description: We completed major construction on North Avenue in 2023. In 2024, there will be tree planting and spot improvements. You can anticipate minor traffic impacts, such as lane closures where work is taking place. Learn more about North Avenue Construction.

8) Aggregate Sealcoating & Paving 

Estimated timeline: Late July through early August 2024

Brief description: We have used sealcoating to extend the life of pavement on residential streets. View more information, including a specific map of this year's locations of the Aggregate Sealcoating & Paving.

9) Mayfair/HWY 100 Water Main Lining and Relay

Estimated timeline: March to May

Brief description: We are lining about 1000 linear feet of existing water main on Mayfair Road and relaying about 775 linear feet of water main. This is between Keefe Avenue and Grantosa Avenue. You can expect lane and sidewalk closures.
