Re-Roofing

Re-roofing is generally considered maintenance, and a permit is not required as long as the same style roofing material is utilized e.g., replacing an asphalt shingle with an asphalt shingle. A permit IS REQUIRED for re-roofing where a different style material is utilized; e.g., installing a metal roof material when the original was asphalt shingles.

Re-Siding

Re-siding is generally considered maintenance, and a permit is not required as long as the same style material is utilized; e.g., replacing horizontal siding with horizontal siding. A permit IS REQUIRED for re-siding where a different style material is utilized; e.g., installing vertical siding when the original was horizontal or using an Exterior Finish and Insulation System (EFIS) when the original was horizontal siding.

Window Replacement

Window replacement is generally considered maintenance, and a permit is not required as long as the same style window is utilized; e.g., replacing double-hung windows with double-hung windows. A permit IS REQUIRED to replace windows where a different style window is utilized; e.g., installing a double-hung window when the original was a casement-style window.

You can apply online using this self-service portal. You can upload any needed documents and process payments online. During the application process, you will be required to submit:

a pdf of construction plans
a recent land survey
the application fee of $50

Re-Roofing, Re-Siding & Window Replacements do not have to go to a design review board. However, any alteration to the exterior of a residential property must be reviewed by the Building & Safety Manager.
