“Metamorphosis: Homes Reimagined” describes this year’s eclectic tour of five Wauwatosa houses, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 6. The Alexander Eschweiler-designed buildings that formed the 1912 Milwaukee County School of Agriculture and Domestic Economy have been transformed. A modern bungalow succeeds a condemned house. A late 19th-century house—relocated 100 years ago—has new life as a multigenerational home. A 1918 residence has been temporarily repurposed with an exhibit celebrating the centenary of the end of World War I. And a glance at the front garden and roof demonstrate that one owner has morphed her home of 56 years into a “Pachyderm Palace.” Shuttle transport to the Eschweiler buildings.
