The Zoological Society of Milwaukee is inviting children 17 and under to create animal art using recycled materials. The theme of this year’s contest is “Animals of North America.” While the artwork must contain an animal that is native to North America, the rest is up to the artists. A few of the Zoo’s animal residents that are native to North America include Oscar the American badger, Boris the Alaskan brown bear and Bosco the harbor seal. This is a great opportunity for artists to merge their love for animals and creative instincts in a conservation-friendly activity. Awards include animal sponsorships, plush-toy animals and a chance to be featured on the Zoological Society’s social media. The deadline to register is Sept. 10, artwork must be dropped off at the Zoo Sept. 18-20, and winners will be selected the week of Sept. 27. Artwork will be displayed virtually.
