The public is invited to hear cellist Adrien Zitoun and pianist Stephen Swedish perform Beethoven and Prokofiev sonatas in the first concert of a new Music Series on Sunday, January 19 at 4 p.m. in the Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church sanctuary, 1529 Wauwatosa Ave. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the start of the concert. The concert is free, but goodwill contributions are welcome.
Zitoun joined the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in 2001. He also performs with Present Music and the Philomusica String Quartet. Swedish has an international reputation as a soloist and collaborator. He is a world premier chamber musician who has recorded on the RCA Red Seal, Mercury and Gasparo Labels.
Free parking is available behind the church off Underwood Avenue in the surface lot across from the fire station. Enter the building through any one of three doors off the parking lot or the main entrance on Wauwatosa Avenue. The church is handicap accessible.
In addition to the Zitoun-Swedish performance on Jan. 19, pianist Jeannie Yu will perform in the church sanctuary on May 17 at 3 p.m. The coffee house concerts will be held in the church Fellowship Hall and include the gypsy swing band Milwaukee Hot Club on March 22 at 4:30 p.m. and the Celtic-bluegrass-country acoustic duo Frogwater on June 14.
