The Wauwatosa Cemetery was established in 1854 and by 1860, the cemetery was moved to its current location. The Underwood, Hoyt, Swan, Jacobus, and Falk families are all buried in the cemetery, along with James Morgan, a Revolutionary War Veteran. Annis Avery Hill, a Revolutionary War daughter, is also buried in the cemetery and is the namesake of the Wauwatosa Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter.
The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.
