Women & Power: A Right to be Heard

Six prominent Wisconsin women share a story about their personal path to power and influence at an event on June 11 sponsored by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Women and Power: A Right to Be Heard" will be held at 7 p.m. at Bergstrom Hall at Mount Mary University, an event co-sponsor. A question-and-answer session will follow the speakers:
• Elizabeth Brenner, former publisher of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
• Mary Burke, a former executive at Trek, a 2014 candidate for governor and creator of the app Building Brave, designed to empower women
• Bria Smith, 18-year-old activist and president of the Milwaukee Youth Council
• Joan Prince, vice chancellor, global inclusion and engagement, for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
• Jessie Rodriguez, Wisconsin Assemblywoman since 2013
• Amy Lindner, CEO of the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County.

June 11 is one day after the 100th anniversary of Wisconsin's historic vote as the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment. The event is free, but please register at Eventbrite. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Use the 92nd St. entrance to the campus, just south of Burleigh St., and use student parking lot B
