Medication & Needle Disposal
The State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has rules that pertain to disposing of syringes, lancets, or other sharps. If you or family member uses sharps, please plan ahead for the proper disposal of these items.
Sharps Collection Locations
Keep expired/no longer needed medications out of reach of children and others. Dispose of them appropriately to prevent environmental contamination. The Wauwatosa Police Department has a permanent collection container, purchased in partnership with the Wauwatosa Health Department and Tosa United, located in their lobby. Collection hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 11:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Available for residents only and identification will be checked. Liquids must be in an original bottle and closed securely. No needles/sharps, inhalers, household chemicals, hygiene items, medical devices or biohazard material will be allowed.
