Fall Leaf Collection Services
While the snowfall Sunday was a minor setback for leaf collection, Operations did complete the “official” final leaf collection pass of the entire City on Saturday. We will still be in the final clean-up stage as we realize there are areas of the City that the trees still have some leaves on them and will require additional attention in the coming weeks. Operations will have crews out collecting any stray leaf piles that are still left throughout the City and we will continue to clean-up and sweep the entire City as long as the weather allows for it. Please be patient as crews continue collecting leaves and cleaning up the City. Please reference the website and the collection map for current updates and schedules.
Thank you for your continued cooperation!
Please view the City's new Interactive Leaf Collection Map to see when you can expect us in your neighborhood. This is the City's first season using this map so please feel free to provide us with feedback. Please check back often as the leaf collection schedule can be impacted by weather conditions.
The City of Wauwatosa offers fall curbside leaf collection services to all residential properties. This service is offered to assist residents with fall cleanup efforts, reduce pollution by eliminating burning of yard waste, and to provide efficient composting of collected waste for reuse.
Residents may begin raking leaves out to the street as early as Saturday, October 15th. You may continue to rake leaves out to the street until Sunday, November 27th.
If weather permits the City may choose to extend this deadline so please check back as the season progresses. During this period crews will make as many as three passes through the City with one final collection occurring after the final rake out deadline.
Please keep the following in mind while completing your fall clean up:
- Please make sure to rake in only leaves and soft plant material. Branches and other woody material significantly slow down the composting process. Yard waste can still be brought into the drop off center for a $5 per load charge or be picked up at the curb for a fee.
- Some areas of the City that have street paving and/or road projects that will be continuing into the leaf collection season. Please do not rake leaves into the street until the final coat of asphalt has been applied.
Thank you for your help and patience in assisting our crews making this a great leaf collection season!
