The Development Department focuses on enhancing the physical environment and improving the quality-of-life for the citizens of Wauwatosa by developing a proactive vision and by planning and promoting that vision with appropriate regulations.

Services
The Department provides a wide-range of services that includes building inspection, property maintenance, historic preservation, zoning, land use, and planning. The Department also acts as a conduit for federal funds, which include an annual allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

Wauwatosa continues to be an attractive location for many business ranging from a regional mall to a regional medical center, while also encompassing many unique, intimate, and historic neighborhoods. Our ongoing challenge is to manage a balance among the needs of neighborhood residents, the business community, and regional institutions.
