Assistant Chief Scott Erke began his career in the fire service in 1986. He currently holds the rank of Assistant Chief of Operations and is responsible for; fire operations, safety, training, dispatch, and all firefighters. Assistant Chief Erke is also the Fire Department Accreditation Manager and in addition oversees multiple major projects such as installing mobile data computers in all apparatus and implementing a computerized scheduling program called Telestaff. He has also played a leading role in the ongoing effort to share resources with neighboring fire departments.
Assistant Chief Erke’s education includes pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration along with multiple State of Wisconsin fire certifications. He is a licensed National Registry Paramedic and certified in Tactical EMS. Assistant Chief Erke is a Senior Fire Instructor with Waukesha County Technical College where he instructs; Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Driver Operator/Pumper and Aerial, Fire Officer I, and Suppression utilizing live fire trainings. He has also developed several new training programs and re-organized the Wauwatosa Training Academy to facilitate an aggressive, well rounded training process for both new hires and current members.
Assistant Chief Erke began his career in 1986 as a Firefighter for the Town of Waukesha where he advanced to the rank of Assistant Chief. He was then hired by the City of Oak Creek Fire Department where he worked until he joined the Wauwatosa Fire Department in 1999. Assistant Chief Erke has held the positions of Firefighter, Paramedic, Technical Rescue Team Leader, Shift Commander and Deputy Chief of Training. He is an active member of the Wauwatosa SWAT and is also a member and former President of the Milwaukee County Training Officers Association. Assistant Chief Erke currently chairs the Milwaukee County Shared Services Command/Operations committee.
