Car Safety Seat Installations/Checks
Car crashes remain the number one killer of children ages 3-14 in the United States. When used correctly child safety seats can prevent injuries and save lives, unfortunately, 4 out of 5 car seats are installed wrong. Car seat instructions can be confusing and make installation very difficult, but we are here to help.
The Wauwatosa Fire Department offers a program which will help parents, grandparents, and/or caregivers install or check their car seats. This service is offered to Wauwatosa Residents Only. There is no charge for this service, but we do ask that you have an appointment.
If you are interested in making an appointment, please fill out this form or call Lori Murphy at (414) 471-8490 ext. 5400.
The Wauwatosa Fire Department is once again offering CPR classes to the public.
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, CPR, is a life-saving skill that anyone can learn. Studies show that cardiac arrest survival rates increase when CPR is started by bystanders. It is a goal of the Wauwatosa Fire Department to train our citizens in CPR.
We teach the American Heart Association’s “Heart Saver” curriculum. The class includes:
- Adult CPR,
- Child CPR
- Infant CPR,
- Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) use
Classes are taught by Wauwatosa Firefighters. Get hands on practice on mannequins and use a training AED. Learn this important skill and you could help save a loved one’s life.
This 3 hour class is offered at Wauwatosa Fire Station #51, 1601 Underwood Ave. The cost is $75. To enroll call Lori Murphy at 414-471-8490.
Thursday, September 21st, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm - CANCELED
Thursday, December 14th, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Note: There must be a minimum of 6 people for each class or the class will be cancelled. There is a maximum of 12 people per class.

Scheduling a Tour
To schedule a station tour, please fill out this form or call (414) 471-8490.
Since our station personnel are in service during tours, please prepare the children that there may be loud noises and equipment should not be touched unless they are instructed to do so.
The possibility also exists that the crew could all be called out on an emergency before or during visit. If this should occur, we have to close the station and end your visit. We will be happy to reschedule your tour at a later date if necessary.
Residential Key Safes
Key Safes are available for purchase through the Fire Department. It is a good idea to have a box on your door in an emergency. Having a key safe can prevent damage to a door or window that may happen if FD needs to make emergency entry to your home. It can also save valuable time. This is a specialty key that only the FD has. We use a special key to lock a copy of your key(s) into the box, where they stay, until the FD takes them out.
Please contact Lori Murphy at (414) 471-8457 for more details.
The Wauwatosa Fire Department offers many other services. If you have a question regarding a service not listed above, please give us a call at (414) 471-8490.
